Cover supervisor

The role

  • You will often be in charge of supervising work that has been set by a teacher

  • Making sure a constructive environment is in place for learning to take place

  • Dealing with issues and following school’s policies and procedures

  • Collecting finished work in after the lesson

  • reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising

  • responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures

Training and development

  • Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

  • Level 3 Certificate in Cover Supervision of Pupils in Schools (currently awarded by City & Guilds and OCR)
